For Islay (she/her), yoga is more than the pursuit of physical poses; it is a practice of self inquiry meant to dissolve the limitations of the mind in realization of one’s true nature.

She is dedicated to providing a compassionate space for students to bravely practice svādhyāya, self study. Knowing the mind is the gateway to self transformation, and it is through self realization that we can achieve collective liberation.

Her weekly classes and workshops are intelligently designed to improve flexibility, build strength and resilience; while empowering students to cultivate a sense of curiosity about their unique practices. Honoring individuality, she teaches from a functional perspective ~ each group class is a personal practice that just happens to be in a community setting. With this philosophy in mind, she values facilitating an equitable platform for students to celebrate personal agency while making mindful decisions that are right for them.

Islay has over 1,000 hours of yoga study; she received her 200hr teaching certification in 2017, and her 300hr advanced certification in 2022. She has completed additional training in Yin Yoga, anatomy and mechanics, yoga philosophy, inclusivity, anti-racism, and decolonization. She continues her yoga journey through education, exploring yogic texts, being in sangha with other seekers, and maintaining a personal practice.
