Her weekly classes and workshops are intelligently designed to improve flexibility, build strength and resilience; while empowering students to cultivate a sense of curiosity about their unique practices. Honoring individuality, each group class is a personal practice that just happens to be in a community setting. With this philosophy in mind, she incorporates choice into her classes to facilitate an equitable platform for students to celebrate personal agency while making mindful decisions that are right for them.

Islay has over 900 hours of yoga study; she received her 200hr teaching certification in 2017, and her 300hr advanced certification in 2022. She has completed additional training in Yin Yoga, anatomy and mechanics, inclusivity and anti-racism. She continues her yoga journey through education, exploring yogic texts, and maintaining a personal practice.
