Yoga is much more than a workout, it is a practice of self transformation in pursuit of collective liberation.

Islay believes that a sustainable yoga practice is one that includes all the subtle aspects of our identity – practicing with the body, energy, mind, and wisdom. Her workshops and specialty classes are crafted in partnership with the host community, and are simultaneously delicate and challenging. In the longer format of a workshop, enjoys incorporating topics such as Patanjali’s 8-Limbs of Yoga, the Vedic Kosha System, and yogic and Indian texts.

Below is a list of upcoming workshops. If you’re interested in inviting Islay to provide a workshop at your studio, contact her here.

The body’s interstitium is the highly dynamic and complex cellular structure which influences fluid exchange and tissue function. By engaging the interstitium and connective tissues, this workshop series will optimize your tissue hydration, joint mobility, posture, and daily moment patterns.

Each workshop focuses on a specific anatomical region, and will utilize mobility exercises, myofascial release techniques and yin yoga postures to positively impact connective tissue and joint health. Students will learn techniques to increase the strength, stability, and mobility of bones and joints; leaving participants feeling a sense of inner spaciousness and fluidity.

First Sunday of every month, 6:30 – 8:30PM
Hosted by Rhode Island Hot Yoga
365 Eddy St 1st Floor, Providence, RI 02903

Explore the inner landscapes of body and mind by combining yin yoga and self inquiry. This extended class begins with meditation and pranayama (breathwork). From there, postures are paired with myo-fascia release techniques to directly target the deeper tissues of the body. Throughout class, students will come to their appropriate edge, be still and soft in the muscles, and hold shapes for a longer period of time – sometimes up to 10 minutes! Deep Yin ends with a luxurious savasana, leaving students feeling restored and rejuvenated.

The Deep Yin practice increases circulation and improves flexibility, leaving students feeling more comfortable in the tissues of their body and with a quieter mind.

Join Islay Taylor and Dr. Tamra Portalla for a unique pairing of relaxation and wellness as we combine gentle meditative Yin Yoga with the therapeutic effects of Acupuncture. This session is designed to promote deep relaxation and balance. Acupuncture will be incorporated during a 30 minute extended savasana at the end of class.
